Talent Management Software Helps Make Everyday Development and Feedback Easy.

22 July, 2015 – Saba, a global leader in cloud-based intelligent talent management solutions, today announced its Saba Cloud Summer Release, tackling one of the biggest challenges in delivering employee engagement: the employee performance review process.

In its annual survey on the Talent Management market, Bersin by Deloitte found that 58% of HR leaders feel that their current employee performance management process is not an effective use of time. Further, only 8% of companies believe that their performance process is effective in driving business value. Worse yet, from an employee perspective, the typical annual review process is viewed as more of a disincentive than a benefit.

In fact, according to the Global Workforce Leadership Survey by Saba and WorkplaceTrends.com, about one-third of US employees said they were looking to leave their jobs with "lack of development" being the number one reason cited. Ideally, employee development should include continuous performance reviews and coaching, easy access to courses and content, and visibility into career opportunities.

The Saba Cloud Summer Release includes five new areas of functionality that can arm HR leaders with the tools they need to reimagine their performance and development processes and power a more personalized, daily approach to skill building and feedback.

Performance@Work: Cultivate leadership with continuous, peer-based reviews and coaching

  • Enable informal peer/manager assessment of skill levels at anytime
With Saba Cloud’s new “skill feedback” capability, individuals can identify skills needed for career progression and reach out to others for an assessment of their readiness. They can kick off a review, distributing a form that collects both quantitative ratings and qualitative feedback on their current skill levels and receive a detailed report that can be added to their profile. Managers can also view and participate in these ratings, enabling them to better coach their employees in building those skills.
  • Cultivate company specific leadership characteristics with custom badges and feedback
Building onto the set of badges and impressions that Saba Cloud has always supported, organizations can now create custom badges that align with their business’ core values and can be awarded by peers to recognize and encourage growth across specific behaviors or skills. These impressions can also be reviewed and attached to formal performance reviews, enabling a system for managers and peers to provide performance feedback on the fly, while collecting context for longer-term review as well.
  • Monitor and support new-hire performance with 30-60-90 day reviews
Saba Cloud now supports the continuous review process, by enabling off-cycle performance reviews (such as 30, 60, and 90 day reviews for new hires) to improve onboarding and consistently monitor progress from the first day forward. This provides managers with a formal process to check-in with new employees, discuss goals and progress, and coach them as needed.   At the same time, this new capability provides a way for HR to measure new hire quality and effectiveness of onboarding programs.

This builds on Saba’s onboarding functionality that supports formal, informal, and on-the-job training – with checklists, learning, new-hire communities, and goals, as well as recommendations on personally relevant courses, content, and connections. This ensures that employees are not only coached, but have access to the tools they need to be successful.
  • Provide anytime, anywhere feedback with mobile performance reviews
Since not all employees are tethered to a desk, Saba Cloud now supports mobile performance reviews, providing convenient, anytime access to employees, managers, and peers to view, fill out, and approve reviews. And as always, the mobile client continues to support badges and impressions, enabling feedback to be provided on the spot.

Learning@Work: Personalized, on-the-fly development empowers shorter time to impact

  • New QR/bar code search drives mobile, on-the-job learning with instant access to content, connections and information
The new QR/bar code search capability within Saba Cloud Mobile enables faster access to key learning resources, content, information, and connections. QR/bar codes can be placed on documentation, product packaging, business cards, name tags, or anywhere that deeper insight, interactivity, or subject matter expertise may be helpful on the fly. Customers can simply open the Saba Cloud Mobile client, click the QR/bar code search icon, and scan the code to get access to the exact set of information they need, when they need it, without searching.

All of this functionality is available today within the latest release of Saba Cloud. More information on how Saba Cloud helps organizations to reboot performance and engagement with better, continuous development, is available at www.saba.com.
