The World of Learning seminar takes place in Theatre 1 on Wednesday 17 October at 3pm. It will be led by Dan Lane, Training Manager for Espirita. He’ll outline the responsibilities we all have to maintain a workplace that is aware of mental health issues.

With World Mental Health Day on 10 October and the push for a change in the law to have a Mental Health First Aider in the workplace, this seminar couldn’t come at a better time. Mental health conditions cost the UK employer over £34 billion per year in lost production, recruitment, and staff absence. What’s more, employees want to be better informed around mental health issues, so they can provide help to their workplace colleagues – but currently don’t know how best to do that. It’s clear training on the subject is crucial.

Espirita, part of the ICS Group, are experts in staffing and training solutions for the healthcare and clinical services sector. They recognised how elearning offered the flexibility they wanted to help them diversify their delivery methods, and they identified Nimble as their preferred platform. That was back in 2015. Since that time, instead of buying in content to train medical professionals in NHS trusts, clinical commissioning groups, local authorities, prisons and the private sector, Espirita used Nimble to create their courses themselves. According to their figures, it’s saved them a whopping £600,000 each year, a timescale in which they train an impressive 35,000 learners.

Espirita have built a comprehensive suite of elearning courses focused around improving the knowledge and skills levels of their audience, covering topics such as mental health, food safety, infection control and safeguarding. In conjunction with Mental Health First Aid England, Espirita also deliver in-person accredited Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Awareness courses and associated training, some hosted at Nimble’s headquarters in Gloucestershire. This in-person training perfectly complements their comprehensive elearning portfolio.
