LINE pilots 'flying classrooms' for Swiss Re

LINE, a leading provider of learning and communications solutions, is pleased to announce the global roll-out of an innovative new programme of sales refresher training developed for client managers at Swiss Re, following successful pilots in Switzerland and Hong Kong.

The 'Flying Classroom' concept cuts the cost of delivering this face to face training to a demanding and geographically dispersed audience, by moving the 'classroom' instead of the learners, and letting local managers or experts deliver the training.

LINE’s solution uses innovative technology to produce a carefully constructed, facilitated workshop that combines video, voting handsets and group activities to deliver realistic scenario-based training, creating a space for highly motivated, but highly competitive client managers to reflect on their own performance and learn from each other.

LINE worked closely with Swiss Re to create the workshop, where participants are shown video excerpts from simulated client meetings. Learners then use voting handsets to vote on specific questions relating to these excerpts before going into a deeper discussion and reflection on each aspect of the consultative sales and negotiation process. LINE co-authored, filmed, produced and integrated all elements of the workshop including voting units to display group voting results in PowerPoint, as well as the laptop and carrying case, dubbed the "Flying Classroom".

The responsible Vice President of Human Resources at Swiss Re said, "LINE was able to develop and deliver a tailored, modern and cost-effective product, which is highly appreciated by our target groups. The voting tools are a great enrichment and the quality of the videos is compelling thanks to the clear language and messages. The flying classroom fully meets our expectations and we are looking forward to delivering additional workshops in many cities on three continents."

Ian Leader, LINE's Managing Director for Central Europe said, "We’re delighted to have worked with Swiss Re on this project. It’s always exciting to develop innovative solutions like this one, particularly when the results are so successful on a global scale. We think that the flying classroom approach is suitable for a range of sectors and applications, such as training on customer facing situations or employee interactions."
