The seminar will be conducted by LINE’s Head of Visual Design, Paul Thorpe and is titled, 'User Experience (UX) and the role of the visual designer' and will focus on the growth in importance of UX design and how it has altered the industry and the role of visual design forever. It will take place in theatre 3 at 14:15.
Full synopsis:
Digital applications have become hugely more complex as our industry’s technologies and methodologies progress. What used to be a one-way static medium has evolved into a rich and interactive experience. But today an application's success hinges on just one thing: how users feel about it.
The requirements of our clients and the expectations of our end users have become exponentially more demanding and the result is the need for proper UX thinking on every project.
Paul Thorpe, Head of Visual Design at LINE, considers how the importance of UX design has grown and altered the industry and the role of the Visual Designer forever.

LINE’s sister company, Epic, who alongside LINE are set to form the UK’s leading custom content provider under the Learning Technologies Group (LTG) will also be exhibiting at the event. They can be found alongside Gomo Learning on stand 18. Epic's Head of Consulting Services, Lars Hyland will be giving a seminar titled, ‘Holistic design – an integrated approach to accelerate performance improvement’ at 12:00 in theatre 1.
Full synopsis:
To make a tangible, lasting difference to individual and organisational performance we need to think beyond the confines of the immediate learning experience. What happens before, during and after is just as crucial for preparing learners to change, to sustain their motivation, and to ensure they have the opportunity and support to deliberately and repeatedly practice new skills and behaviour in the working environment.
This session explores:
- how thinking more holistically will uncover opportunities to integrate and reframe the learning solution for maximum impact
- the induction and onboarding experience
- how the ASPECT model can be used to radically improve new joiner retention levels and reduce overall time to competence
- the increasingly important role performance support needs to take in any learning solution design
- the DRIVE model for guiding the implementation of a robust performance support strategy.
LINE will also be exhibiting at the event and will be found on stand 16 where they will be showing some examples of award winning, multi-device learning and advising on how to create bespoke learning solutions.
