A dramatic reframing of L&D at Learning Technologies 2023
Learning cultures expert, consultant and LNTV anchor, Nigel Paine, is speaking at Learning Technologies 2023: ‘Reframing L&D: Bigger and closer; not smaller and further away’.
Learning Technologies 2023 - 4 essential ways to reframe L&D now: Bigger and closer (not smaller and further away).
At Learning Technologies 2023, 3-4 May in London, Nigel Paine is here to suggest a dramatic reframing of learning and development.
On the one hand organisations are desperate for more resilience, greater innovation and more agile change. On the other, L&D responds with courses aimed at individuals, focused on small, slow steps to shifting perspective and behaviours. This mismatch helps nobody and Nigel Paine is here to suggest a dramatic reframing to help us step up to what’s needed.
Nigel Paine regularly talks to companies and individuals world-wide. The gist of those conversations is not good: CEO’s and Heads of Talent are not looking to L&D for ideas about redeveloping and transforming the workforce. In an uncertain world, full of change, being proud that everyone has completed 4 online modules doesn’t cut it anymore.
Learning Technologies Conference Chair, Donald H Taylor, said: “The ideas Nigel presents have emerged from research. He will share examples of what organizations are doing to become more resilient in the face of uncertainty. Surely, he will argue, this is the time to refocus. Doing what we have always done simply won’t work. This will be part discussion and part presentation. Everyone will get an opportunity to think through what their priorities are at the moment, and draw on the expertise of colleagues around them in the room.”
There are four crucial actions that you need to take:
- Shift the frame and thereby redefine your role
- Engage in discussions about the nature of the organization, not the programme of learning.
- Help engage the organization in sharing insights, working together on common challenges and offering help
- Create a physical and virtual climate that will facilitate these processes.
Nigel Paine’s session, 4 essential ways to reframe L&D now: Bigger and closer (not smaller and further away), takes place on day one of the conference, 3 May.
The full programme is available on the event website: Learning Technologies 2023 Conference. Conference passes are on sale: Learning Technologies 2023 Conference Conference Passes.
