FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

As another opportunity arrives to recognise World Youth Skills Day, Career Codex, MMO UK and Learning Nexus are set to launch a career guidance and employability course aimed at 17-25 year olds, which is set for release at the beginning of August.

World Youth Skills Day is celebrated every year on 15 July and is recognised by the United Nations to highlight the importance of enhancing the skills of the younger generation across the world. This year, followers of the initiative are encouraged to help develop the technical and vocational education of young people and follow the campaign to reduce youth unemployment – to increase youth employability.

Since the economic downturn of 2009, it is widely accepted that finding employment has become harder than ever and it can be even more difficult for young people to find a job that genuinely fits their interests and career aspirations.

According to UK Parliament, 621,000 young people aged 16-24 were unemployed from February to April 2016, stressing the need to educate and develop the skills of young people to successfully identify and set out their career goals, search for desirable jobs and secure their ideal role.

But how can we achieve this? Schools, colleges and universities are under increasing pressure to deliver measureable employability outcomes. As educational establishments prepare, those without a career guidance solution will need to find one now, and even those with something in place may need to bring in additional resources and expertise to meet regulatory requirements and stay ahead of the competition.

In an age where technology and digital platforms are at their peak and at the centre of thinking for millennials, demand for the latest advice on how to get ahead in the job market, delivered direct to mobile devices, is key to capturing this audience, which is where ‘Career Codex’ steps in.

Simon Gray, a chartered accountant and former professional recruiter, has used his ten-plus years of experience in the recruitment industry to develop a unique and innovative system to help young people define, find and secure the job they really want and to get the best start to their career. The Career Codex course is a collaboration between Career Codex, MultiMedia Outsourcing UK (MMO UK) and Learning Nexus, and is built on four core areas – how the job market really works, the psychology of success, career planning and managing an effective job search process.

Topics include understanding how the job market and the players in it really work and think, how to research, plan and find the career you want, how to develop the Super CV, how to successfully take control of every interview and negotiating job offers. This video led e-learning solution is due for release in August and will offer young people the help and advice they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive job market.

Simon Gray, founder of Career Codex: ‘With the 2013 Gatsby report, and recently released Commons Committee report on education and career guidance, there is increasing pressure on all educational establishments to deliver measurable employability outcomes, the timing is perfect in bringing our careers and employability course to market. This has been a project I’ve worked on in collaboration with MMO UK and Learning Nexus for over a year and I’m incredibly excited to see it realised and have the intended impact of helping young people take charge of their careers, both now and in the future.’

Andrew Longhurst, Managing Director of MMO UK: “We had two goals when developing Career Codex: firstly, to enable educational establishments to deliver compelling and effective employability outcomes and become the destination of choice for students, parents and employers, and, secondly, to help their student body acquire the skills that would not just secure their first job, but to provide skills that would have value throughout their career. We are proud to have been part of the team that, through Career Codex, will equip young people with the skills and knowledge to secure not just a job, but the job and career they want.”

Ken George, Chairman of Learning Nexus: “The alliance of Simon Gray, MMO and Learning Nexus has resulted in a unique online product that will contribute to the careers of many students and jobseekers. Every member of the Learning Nexus team is delighted to have participated in the development of Career Codex and looks forward to its launch.”
