Learning News interview: Unicorn’s acquisition by Access
Unicorn Training’s Founder, Peter Phillips and Access Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Marjara discuss the acquisition and their future partnership.
Following Unicorn Training’s acquisition, Learning News caught up with its Founder, Peter Phillips and Access Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Marjara, to ask them about the combined business and their plans for the future.
With the addition of Unicorn (and its associated companies Socrates Training and GameBrain), Access Group gains a successful, market-leading elearning business in the financial and legal sectors, with a strong client base. It also gains Unicorn’s learning management system, which it feels offers synergies across it existing activities in the legal, hospitality, health and social care, education, supply chain and HR and recruitment sectors.
Access Group’s Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Marjara, talks about the high growth in the digital learning market and how Unicorn and its other recent acquisitions are a starting point for its new digital learning and compliance division and that further acquisitions can be expected.
Peter talks about the similar cultures of the two organisations being the most important factor in the partnership and how, after thirty years, Unicorn will continue to grow and will now benefit from being part of a bigger organisation and the investment it brings. He goes on to discuss how being able to take Unicorn into other sectors, beyond its core financial-sector clients and the speed at which it is able to invest in and improve its products, will be a test of the success of the acquisition.
