Happy Computers was this week named as the best place to work in the IT services industry.

Happy Computers was this week named as the best place to work in the IT services industry. The company was presented with the trophy at Computer Weekly’s Best Places to Work in IT awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.
Happy Computers is part of the larger training company Happy Ltd and this award follows on from Happy being listed last week as one of the best workplaces in the UK, and the very best for health and wellbeing.

The Best Places to Work in IT awards are based on surveys of all staff in the companies taking part. In Happy’s case, 65% of respondents talked about the benefits of flexible working and the judges were especially struck by their description of Happy as a democratic workplace.
“We are delighted to be recognised again”, commented founder and Chief Executive Henry Stewart, “especially as this award is based solely on the anonymous responses from our staff. Its their opinion that counts.”

Being a great workplace is a specific aim of the company and Henry Stewart sees it as a key advantage in the marketplace. “Not only are people more motivated and driven, but it improves retention and massively reduces retention costs. We have a list of people waiting for jobs that has hit 2,000 and we rarely have to advertise to recruit.”

Another division of Happy, Happy People, now specialises in helping organisations create great workplaces. “It’s the fastest growing part of our business”, comments Henry. “Companies increasingly recognise the business benefits of being a great place to work in.”
