Filtered announces Philip Padfield as Chairman to help magpie soar
Filtered is delighted to announce the appointment of Philip Padfield as Chairman of the Board with effect from 1st August 2019. The appointment follows a £2.5 million series A funding round from Maven Capital Partners and the appointment of a number of other leading industry figures to the business.
Phil brings a wealth of relevant board and industry expertise, with more than 30 years experience working in technology across a variety of markets, particularly business-to-business. Those include a diverse array of board-level roles across multiple software verticals such as energy, fintech, martech and procurement. Phil also partakes in voluntary activity for the charity Action for Children.
Phil’s appointment is expected to bring this experience to bear on taking magpie to the next level as a product, and Filtered as the vanguard of artificial intelligence in learning. He will work closely with the current leadership team on strategy refinement and company development to fuel the continued growth that led to Maven Capital Partners’ recent £2.5 million venture capital investment in the company.
“I am delighted to join the high calibre team at Filtered at such an exciting time,” said Phil. “magpie satisfies a growing need to enable autonomous learning in digitally literate organisations: encouraging a culture of learning in business environments where knowing where to invest – with limited budgets – is critical to develop an adaptable, flexible workforce. I’m looking forward to working with the Board, Management team and company to help them fulfil their potential.”
“We started Filtered ten years ago at a time when AI and learning recommendations were barely a distant dream for most organisations or L&D and HR professionals,” said Vinit Patel, COO & Co-founder. “It’s for this reason that it’s incredibly exciting to have so many talented people support Filtered whether they’re our employees, shareholders, advisors or investors, and help us realise this aspiration. And we have more product and people development to share soon, so watch this space!”
Phil joins a raft of experienced technology figures in board or advisory roles at Filtered, including Donald Taylor (Chairman of the Learning and Performance Institute), Josh Bersin (Founder of Bersin by Deloitte and the Josh Bersin Academy), José Wehnes Q. (Operating Partner at Education Growth Partners), Greg Detre (Chief Data Scientist at Channel 4) and Gareth Price (Investment Director at Maven Capital Partners).
