Filtered’s magpie takes flight with £2.5 million investment from Maven

London, UKLearning NewsFiltered

Filtered, pioneer of artificial intelligence in learning, has today announced that it has completed £2.5 million of funding with Maven Capital Partners. The investment is a resounding endorsement of magpie, the intelligent learning recommendations engine, and the Filtered team’s innovation and potential.

The Information Age has become the Information Overload Age. We’re drowning in content, unmoored in a sea of digital 0s and 1s, swept from one experience to the next. In this age of content shock, the means with which we discover information have become as important as the information itself.

Consumer experiences have embodied this for some time. YouTube, Netflix and Spotify, the arbiters of our digital content consumption, drive 70%, 75% and 60% of their user activity respectively from algorithm-led recommendations. It’s high time for digital learning to catch up.

magpie, Filtered’s intelligent learning recommendation engine, has been identified by Maven Capital Partners as the technology to deliver this, resulting in a £2.5 million Series A investment.

The investment will accelerate Filtered’s continued technological innovation, with further refinement of its patented algorithm and product development to mark it as an essential part of L&D and HR tech stacks for years to come. It will also reinforce other strengths of Filtered, such as its highly regarded customer success team and thought-leading sales and marketing department.

Marc Zao-Sanders, CEO and co-Founder of Filtered, said “Corporates have grown tired of yet more platforms and content. They don’t need more of these. What they need is to make better use of what they have through expert curation, algorithmic recommendations and intelligently placing this where employees are, in the flow of work. This investment signals a shift in Learning and Development towards consumer-grade technologies and experiences and enables Filtered to lead that charge. And Maven are the ideal investors for us: smart, straightforward and interested in making the future of work a better, happier one.”

‘magpie is an exciting, innovative product that is receiving a lot of interest from the corporate market and is already being used by a number of high-profile businesses to support and improve their Learning & Development work’ said Gareth Price, Investment Director at Maven. ‘We’re very pleased to be supporting with our investment the excellent team at Filtered in their growth plans for magpie and in the next stage of the company’s development.’
