New Program Provides Academic Community with Free Training and Certification for Popular Citrix Virtualization Platform.

Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTXS) today announced the launch of the Student Technology Education Program (STEP). The purpose of this program is to enrich the academic community by providing technology-related college students and their professors access to valuable training and certification on Citrix virtualization solutions. For professors, this presents an opportunity to learn more about virtualization and evaluate adding this technology to their curriculum, while students benefit from the resume-boosting career head start provided by certification.

A growth area, virtualization is largely in demand by enterprises around the world because the technology helps businesses become more agile, reduce costs and deliver optimal service levels. Virtualization is the enabling force behind several hot IT trends including Green IT and BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) programs. STEP is a way for students to get up to speed on the latest, relevant technology and to differentiate themselves as they begin their careers during challenging times.

Through STEP, for a limited time, eligible college students and their professors can receive free Citrix XenServer self-paced online technical training. Valued at over $2,000, this robust technical training course introduces students to Citrix XenServer, an enterprise-class, cloud-proven server virtualization platform. In addition, the first 1,000 individuals to take advantage of the offer will also be eligible to receive a free voucher for the Citrix XenServer certification exam, valued at $150. Those who pass this exam obtain a Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) for XenServer designation.

"With the current state of the global economy, the job market has become increasingly competitive," said Julieann Scalisi, managing director of worldwide education for Citrix. "This offer of free virtualization training and certification is a great opportunity and I'm hoping that all eligible students take advantage of it. Including this certification on their resumes is an excellent way for job candidates to stand out to hiring managers and prospective employers."

In addition to the free training and certification, the base version of the Citrix XenServer platform is available as a free download. This enables students and professors to further develop hands-on server virtualization skills, and even practice with the actual product by using XenServer in their computer labs and classrooms.
