Webanywhere’s new platform will equip students with vital life skills

Learning NewsWebanywhere Limited

e-Learning company Webanywhere is launching an innovative new scheme for secondary schools which will provide students with vital life skills and knowledge.

The aim of the scheme, called Skillsanywhere, is to create Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for schools to help teach young people life skills in areas such as finance, health and safety and technology.

Businesses can sponsor schools’ access to courses on Skillsanywhere. These courses will sit alongside existing school subjects, and give young people the opportunity to learn about topics that otherwise might not be covered in school - like health issues, managing money and applying for jobs.

Sean Gilligan, owner and founder of Webanywhere, said: “As a company we are passionate about providing young people with opportunities to learn online and improve their chances of a more rewarding future. The best way for students to become stars of tomorrow is to be guided by the leaders of today. We are inviting businesses to sponsor these courses and build relationships with their local schools.”

Skillsanywhere is complementary to the traditional school subjects and will better prepare our youth for life after education. Webanywhere also anticipates that its new initiative will be seen by schools as an extra incentive to keep students until they are 18, after the government’s recent introduction of RPA (Raising the Participation Age). It is now a legal requirement for young people to stay in education or training until at least their 18th birthday; however, they can choose whether to stay in school, or take up a training or college course.
