Global e-learning firm encouraging gamification of learning in workplace and further education
Webanywhere, a global firm with offices in the UK, USA and Poland, has recently announced plans to assist in the adoption of 'gamified' learning in workplaces around the world.
The initiative has developed from discussions with the firm's global client base. This has revealed growing struggles with the motivation and retention of learners within programs. Webanywhere has turned it’s expertise towards strategies that will capture the same motivation and enthusiasm enjoyed by gamers, demonstrated by excitement around the release of the Xbox One and the imminent launch of the PS4.
Both these systems contain achievement led awards, that congratulate players for achieving particular feats while playing. Webanywhere has been examining how this approach can help educators, by utilising the integration between Moodle LMS and “Open Badges” from Mozilla.
The Open Badges project is a new open source initiative founded by the same group that created the Firefox browser. Badges can be awarded by Learning Management systems, then exported and stored in “backpacks”, a form of user portfolio.
To assist educators in adopting the Open Badges standard, Webanywhere has organised a Webinar on Thursday the 28th of November at 2PM GMT / 9AM EST. More information on the Webinar can be found at: http://www.webanywhere.co.uk/landing-page/gamification/
