Webanywhere, a provider of corporate learning platforms, in association with Professor Jeff Gold, Professor of Organisational Learning at Leeds Business School, has published a white paper that explores the differences between leadership and management and considers various approaches for developing leaders and managers.

The White Paper, Leaders and managers, leadership and management development, is available to download free-of-charge and is designed for students and workplace managers studying leadership and management development as part of the CIPD PDS qualification or as a part of a general business or HR degree. The paper includes real-life case studies from the NHS and others, and explores the differences between leaders and managers, including the relationship between leadership and management development and the various approaches and purpose to developing leaders and managers.

"The White Paper text includes examples from practice, but also includes appropriate analysis and critique. In addition it includes perspectives from those who have either experienced or provided leadership and management development," said Conor Gilligan, Head of Operations at Webanywhere.

Professor Gold is working with Webanywhere alongside other blue-chip partner organisations including WM Morrison Supermarkets and BUPA, as part of Leeds Business School's new HRD and Leadership Research Unit. His work is a valuable addition to the learning of leadership and talent management best practice in both the enterprise and SME sectors. The academic and real-life examples illustrate the drivers and barriers to effective leadership in the context of learning and talent management.

Further reading covering the issues explored and the conclusions drawn in paper is available in Professor Gold's latest book, Leadership and Management Development, available from the CIPD store.
