Virtual College joins Government campaign urging nation to boost job prospects
Virtual College is delighted to be part of ’An Hour to Skill’ campaign alongside other educational institutions including Amazon Web Services, FutureLearn, Cisco, Lloyds Bank, LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft, The Open University and many more.
’An Hour to Skill’ is a new campaign driven by the Government to help boost the skills and job prospects of the nation. Its aim is to inspire people to set aside one hour a week to online learning by taking free courses from The Skills Toolkit. Open to everyone, no matter what stage of their career, these courses aim to help individuals progress in their current role or develop skills that employers are looking for.
There are over 70 high-quality courses included in the Toolkit, which can be accessed whenever needed, allowing people to learn at a time and pace that suits them best. Virtual College are providing a number of their Personal and Professional Development courses including Resilience, Dealing with Stressful Situations and Growth Mindset.
The Skills Toolkit is part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs, and aims to help lift the UK economy as it recovers from the impact of Covid-19.

The Skills Toolkit is an online platform giving access to free, high-quality digital, numeracy and employability courses to help people build up their skills, progress in work and boost job prospects. It is open to everyone, whether they are out of work or thinking about changing jobs, have just graduated or left full time education and are starting their career, or if they’re just keen to keep their mind healthy and busy.
The Government was supported by some of the country’s leading educational experts and employers to make up this collection of high-quality resources to suit a range of interests and skill levels. All courses are flexible and online, ranging from a few weeks to a few hours, so learners can top up their skills at a time and place that suits them.
