A collaboration between Learning Technologies and Towards Maturity, the Exchanges programme was launched in 2011 with the aim to share effective practice, thought leadership and stimulate innovation in L&D.

This year, Learning Technologies Exchanges will be tackling the practical issues facing today’s L&D leaders: supporting change, leveraging networks, mobile and micro and how to get ahead with technology in 2017. The programme is a series of informal discussions with conference speakers - some of the world’s most influential learning sector thought-leaders - and is available to all L&D practitioners visiting the exhibition.

Laura Overton, Founder and CEO of Towards Maturity said:

“Nine out of ten L&D professionals are looking to technology to improve efficiency and increase performance, yet more than half report that they lack the skills to implement and manage e-learning, according to the Towards Maturity 2016 Benchmark Report. The Learning Technologies Exchanges, run by Towards Maturity, works with the conference’s experts to tackle the big issues that many L&D professionals are struggling with.”

“As an industry we have high hopes for 2017 but L&D professionals report that they aren’t equipped for change and subsequently we're not seeing a fast enough shift. We want to help action happen and by facilitating the sharing of ideas we can do just that. Visitors can expect their thinking challenged, actions and ideas to take-away with them and the opportunity to grow their network at the same time.”

This year’s Exchanges will be co-hosted by Training Journal and the panel includes: Mark Britz, performance strategist and author of ‘The Simple Shift’ blog together with James Tyer, Networks and Community specialist, Andrew Hurren together with Laura Overton, author of 40+ major research reports, Harold Jarche author of ‘What do we do about inequality?’ and more, Clive Shepherd who’s most recent publication is titled ‘More Than Blended Learning’, John Stepper author of ‘Working Out Loud’, Julian Stodd, author of ’The Social Leadership Handbook’, Will Thalheimer, author of ‘Performance-Focused Smile Sheets: A Radical Rethinking of a Dangerous Art Form’ and Emma Weber, author of ‘Turning Learning into Action: A Proven Methodology for Effective Transfer of Learning.’

Tackling a diverse range of topics - from personal development, ‘how can you stay current in your field when work, jobs, and even professions are constantly changing?’ To more directed topics around specific learning groups: ‘what can organisations do to earn the trust of social learners?’ there will be something for everyone.

And as Harold Jarche said: “Professionals today need knowledge networks and communities of practice to engage in problem-solving conversations at the edge of their expertise.”

Those planning to attend Learning Technologies 2017 can book spaces for this year’s Exchanges by visiting www.towardsmaturity.org/exchanges

The key take-aways from each hour-long session will be shared online after LT17 so those unable to join in person, can still benefit with the insights from each discussion.
