Make It Happen: Learning Leaders Urged to Turn Aspiration into Action Throughout 2016

London, UKLearning NewsTowards Maturity

Global research and benchmarking organisation Towards Maturity launches a year-long campaign to provide practical insights and resources to help L&D professionals demonstrate the impact of learning.

Despite the fact nine out of ten learning professionals are looking to transform learning culture and improve business agility, productivity and employee engagement, fewer than three in ten are making significant progress, according to the 2015 Towards Maturity Industry Benchmark Report.

This is why 2016 is the year for L&D teams to turn aspiration into action, according to Laura Overton, founder and CEO of Towards Maturity.

“Business and L&D leaders are craving tangible, positive results and want to see the impact learning can have on business outcomes and individual performance,” Overton says.

Year after year, Towards Maturity research has shown that L&D professionals want to demonstrate how learning initiatives can drive business performance. But the latest Industry Benchmark Report, Embracing Change, shows that turning this desire into quantifiable results remains a huge challenge. This is why Towards Maturity is starting 2016 with a focus on helping L&D demonstrate impact.

In the coming months, Towards Maturity is contributing to a series of events that will bring practical guidance sourced from research on the world's top performing L&D teams. The first webinar, Make 2016 the Year of Learning Impact: Learn From the Leaders, will focus on key areas in which L&D professionals can demonstrate impact. They are:

  • Connecting with business
  • Engaging your customers
  • Embracing change
  • Prioritising actions

This webinar, held in conjunction with CLO Media and Towards Maturity Ambassador Saba on 12 January at 18:00 (GMT), will look at how L&D can win over the hearts and minds of business leaders, support the self-directed learner and equip the L&D team for success.

This is followed by a webinar on How To Reinvigorate Your Compliance Training, sponsored by SAI Global. Compliance remains a thorny issue for organisations, with fewer than half of L&D professionals making significant progress on changing staff attitudes and behaviour. This webinar, held on 28 January at 16:00 (GMT), will look at the big challenges and how to overcome them, the dos and don'ts about using technology in compliance training and how to design for behaviour and attitude change.

On 3-4 February, Towards Maturity will present at the Learning Technologies Conference and Exhibition in London under the title, How to Make a Lasting Impact in 2016: Top Tips for Today's L&D Leaders. This vital seminar will provide tips on how to create and demonstrate lasting impact through learning.

L&D professionals attending the exhibition and conference who want to identify how and where to have impact in 2016 are also urged to visit Towards Maturity’s stand on H21, where exclusive practical resources will be available, as well as learning leaders and speakers from the conference sharing their insights during LT eXchanges, the details of which are soon to be revealed.

Overton, who was recently named the number one e-learning influencer in the UK for the second year running in the seventh, annual, Top Ten E-learning Movers and Shakers list, adds: “With our global research base and insights from top performing L&D teams, Towards Maturity is looking forward to helping learning professionals turn 2016 into the year that they started to demonstrate the impact of learning; the year they Made It Happen.”

The 'Make It Happen' campaign can be followed through Towards Maturity’s account on Twitter @TowardsMaturity or using the hashtag #MakeItHappen.
