Learning NewsThe Training Foundation

The Training Foundation is delighted to welcome David Annets, who joined the team as Global Director for the Policing sector on 2 November 2015. David comes with a fantastic pedigree, with over 30 years in Policing, the last four of which have been spent in Learning & Development closely associated to the College of Policing Ryton and delivering senior management & leadership programmes across the globe.

David first became aware of the Training Accreditation Programme (TAP) after experiencing two excellent training events first-hand, which gave David an excellent knowledge base plus many practical skills and templates to use in his role as International Police Advisor.

David, and some of his colleagues at the College of Policing, were attracted to the TAP programme because of its flexible modular approach to a high standard of quality-assured training, the unique recognition of the Queen’s Award for Innovation, the TAP’s links with the British Institute for Learning and Development (who now mandate TAP as a pre-requisite for professional Membership) and the range of training programmes offered. David expressed his  delight in joining such a professional team and is available formally or informally to discuss any development proposals the Policing sector is considering.

David comes to The Training Foundation with extensive experience in Policing and more recently in L&D.

David has recently retired from Policing after a career spanning over 30 years, in roles throughout the UK, with Hampshire Constabulary, Strathclyde Police, The Association of Chiefs of Police (Terrorism and Allied Matters) and with the College of Policing.

David’s most recent roles have been with the College of Policing, as part of the Leadership Academy, delivering Senior Leadership training, and the International Academy, as the National Contact Point for the European Police College (CEPOL) and International Policing Advisor.

David was also engaged on an international platform, as the lead tutor for the Pacific Islands Senior Leadership Programme at Royal New Zealand Police College, Nr Wellington.

Across the Atlantic, in America, David was the Course Director for Senior Leadership Seminars on behalf of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police. He has recently returned from Qatar where he delivered foundation leadership training to Police Lieutenants at the Police Training Institute, as an Associate at the College of Policing.

In his role as the UK’s National Contact Point for the European Police College (CEPOL) David was the Course Director in the UK for training designed to improve the capability and capacity of counter-terrorism response at both a Strategic and Operational level for all 28 Member States and Associated Countries, and for improving systems of European Police cooperation. He was also the tactical police training advisor for the UK’s Governing Board Member of CEPOL, a European Agency which has responsibility for training senior police leaders throughout Europe.
