Graduates awarded the Trainer Assessment Programme (TAP®) Diploma in Learning Facilitation Skills currently teaching in Higher or Tertiary Education can now take advantage of a new partnership between The Training Foundation and the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT). This allows for credit to be granted against modules and topics within the Post-Graduate Certificate in HE Learning and Teaching (PGCertHELT) course offered by Robert Gordon University.

PGCertHELT is a part time distance learning/online course which has professional recognition from both the UK Higher Education Academy (formerly Institute for Learning & Teaching in Higher Education -ILTHE) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council/National Health Service Education for Scotland (NMC/NES). The course is designed to meet the needs of people who have started teaching in higher education, professional and practice educators who support personal learning and organisational development within the practice settings. It is also relevant to those in related fields, such as business training and professional education.

Dr Charles Juwah, the Course Leader at CELT commented: “I am delighted to announce this new initiative, which will allow qualifying individuals holding the TAP Diploma in Learning Facilitation to progress to our postgraduate qualifications. We have been working to formalise this partnership with The Training Foundation since late 2003. Today’s announcement is the result of an extensive mapping exercise that has demonstrated areas of commonality of content between The Training Foundation’s programmes and The Robert Gordon University’s PGCertHELT course. We are now looking forward to welcoming the first applications from qualifying Candidates applying for credit transfer or Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning.”

Adrian Snook, Director of Corporate Development at The Training Foundation commented: “The Robert Gordon University has earned a formidable reputation for providing high quality vocationally relevant education and research, the success of which is reflected in their outstanding record of graduate employment. For generations the University has produced qualified professionals across a broad spectrum of careers, and currently has approximately 9,000 students studying over 145 full-time, part-time and sandwich courses at undergraduate, post-experience and postgraduate levels. These are just some of the reasons why we have chosen to work with CELT in developing this valuable new option for those that have already achieved the TAP Diploma in Learning Facilitation Skills.”
