Ensuring NLP is credible in organisations

These are exhilarating times for the world and especially for those of us involved in transpersonal development in the corporate, sporting, education and therapeutic environments. Inevitably, like any other science, along with the increasing awareness and popularity of NLP runs the scepticism, particularly around its application in organisations. Whilst we all value NLP as the most powerful and far reaching science of achievement and success, our critics perceive it as wacky, new age, psycho babble etc. and at the same time being secretly intrigued as to the effectiveness when they get the chance to witness some of the transformational changes that take place. These thoughts, coupled with incredible feedback from clients where NLP based interventions are being introduced to leverage personal and organisational change, caused The Performance Solution to approach Portsmouth University Business School with a proposition to gain academic credibility for what is surely one of the most impactful sciences of the current time.

The result of this partnership is the launch of what is believed to be the first business based NLP related MSc in the world and interested students are able to apply now for September 2005. The innovative structure results in dual accreditation of the traditional Practitioner and Master Practitioner certification and academic post graduate qualifications at Certificate, Diploma and MSc levels.

The programme is designed for students from education, human resources, business management, marketing, sales, sport and indeed anyone involved in the world of interpersonal communication and transformational change. It is easily accessible by those in full time employment because of the modular nature and the work based assessment methods. Already delegates have enrolled from France, Spain and Holland as well as the United Kingdom. Organisations are planning branded in-company programmes and individuals are booking open programmes at the various stages.

The full course represents a total of 180 M credits and leads to a Masters degree and students may register for the Certificate or Diploma in the first instance. Those not entering for the full course may study individual modules. Specialist master classes are available for Continuing Professional Development and for refresher purposes through the faculty tutorial team, through guest speakers and of course through partner institutes.

For all those people currently qualified as Practitioners and Master Practitioners of NLP through recognised institutes, arrangements will be made to give them credit for their endeavours. On provision of original certificates and in some cases transcripts from programmes attended these qualifications will exempt them from the taught NLP modules at the appropriate stage. E.g. a Master Practitioner would only have to attend the Leadership and Organisational Development modules at Certificate and Diploma stage and successfully carry out the assessed assignments before proceeding to the Masters level.

As part of their belief in abundance and in recognition of all the shared learning and experience that binds the NLP community, The Performance Solution are very happy to accredit other NLP institutes as deliverers of the NLP modules which result in Practitioner and Master Practitioner as long as the content maps across to that agreed with the University.
