Plymouth, UKLearning NewsSponge

How emerging technologies will change elearning in the future is the subject of a week-long social media event aimed at generating debate and awareness about the latest trends.

#EmergingTechWeek hosted by award-winning elearning provider, Sponge UK, will bring together blogs, infographics, interviews and resources from around the world about a range of emerging technologies.

The topics include virtual reality, the ‘internet of things’, wearables, augmented reality and accessibility innovations – among others.

People will also get the chance to take part in a survey about emerging technologies and their future potential within learning.

Kate Pasterfield, Creative Director at Sponge UK, said: “We are part of the learning technologies industry so it’s no surprise that we’re fascinated by the latest innovations.

“The aim of #EmergingTechWeek is to share information about what’s out there and what’s on the horizon, but also to explore the implications for elearning.

“It’s an opportunity for anyone connected to elearning to join the debate about the possibilities of all kinds of emerging technologies.”

Emerging technologies are expected to create an extra 46,000 jobs in London alone, adding around £12bn extra to the UK economy in the next decade.[i]

#EmergingTechWeek takes place from June 22-26, 2015 via Sponge UK’s social media channels.
