Insight into successful elearning revealed at compliance conference

Plymouth, UKLearning NewsSponge

Tesco and leading elearning company, Sponge UK, will be revealing, at a major European conference, how their innovative approach to online compliance training achieved an unprecedented success rate.

The global retail giant commissioned Sponge UK to develop a ground-breaking, engaging suite of compliance modules which resulted in 4,000 staff successfully completing the training in just four weeks.

Tesco’s Regulatory, Ethics & Compliance Director, David Ward and Sponge UK’s Creative Director, Kate Pasterfield will be speaking about the case study at the Compliance Week Europe Conference (Oct 13-14).

They will outline how they devised a completely new training programme, branded as Learning Leap, with charming illustrations and engaging scenarios aimed at changing behaviours and making compliance a way of life.

Rather than a standalone elearning course, the training formed part of a whole campaign, starting with branded e-mails notifying learners of the course and following through to post-event knowledge checks.

Kate Pasterfield from Sponge UK said: “We began by looking at feedback for the previous elearning and used the analysis to identify and address problem areas early on.

“A re-occurring theme in the original feedback was the amount of time it took to complete so we worked extensively to refine the content and develop three bite-sized 20 minute modules.

“We wanted to deliver something that was useful and engaging for staff so we spent a lot of time perfecting the content and developing relevant scenarios that would be memorable and interesting for staff.

“We also created a unique identity for the elearning - the fun and approachable Learning Leap.”

Delegates at the Compliance Week Europe Conference will hear how the learning programme achieved a completion rate of 96% with glowing feedback from learners.

David Ward and Kate Pasterfield will be speaking at 1.25-2.25pm on Tuesday, October 14. The conference is being staged at the Brussels Marriott.

Sponge UK and Tesco have been shortlisted for Best Use of eLearning to Ensure Compliance with External Regulations or Internal Policies at the prestigious Elearning Age Awards 2014.
