Survey reveals that nearly one quarter of organisations in the UK, cite infrastructure and processes as major barriers to improving employee engagement.

Bracknell, UK – June 24, Saba (OTCPink: SABA), the global leader in next-generation cloud solutions for talent management, today announced findings from a new study entitled The State of Employee Engagement: How the UK is approaching engagement and an action plan for change. The report, produced by HRZone.com and Smith & Henderson, in association with Saba Software, reveals that nearly one quarter (23%) of organisations in the UK, cite infrastructure and processes as major barriers to improving employee engagement.

“From our experience, we knew that IT systems were a major inhibitor to employee engagement and this survey confirms it,” commented Robin Martin, Regional Vice President, Northern Region, Saba Software. “This has been one of the primary drivers behind the development of the Saba Cloud, to provide employees and management with an intelligent application that enables them to flourish in the new world of work.”

IT Systems that support employee collaboration around talent management pillars such as development, performance management, training, and recognition are viewed as secondary obstacles. Management buy-in to employee engagement is cited as the primary obstacle.

In light of employee engagement being cited as a major contributor to organisational performance and success, the report also yields that 78% of organisations are cognizant of the issues and focused on improving it.  However, only 58% are satisfied with the current results from their engagement improvement efforts. Specifically, these efforts are focused on improving communication, employee development and performance management; all of which can be supported by effective IT systems.
