New CIPD Learning & Development Qualifications set to become the globally recognised standard for L&D professionals

London | UKLearning NewsReed Learning

Reed Learning today adds two new CIPD Foundation and Intermediate Learning & Development (L&D) qualifications to its extensive portfolio.

Joseph Grech, FCIPD, programme lead of the new L&D qualifications states that "these new qualifications positively showcase the social collaborative tools that we know work best for adult learners.  It truly meets the demands of today's global L&D professional."

The CIPD qualifications to be delivered are:

  • Foundation Certificate & Diploma in Learning and Development Practice (level 3)
  • Intermediate Certificate & Diploma in Learning and Development (level 5)

The feedback from former candidates was that previous qualifications had a heavy bias towards HR practices and strategy.  The content and delivery methods of these programmes has been revised to reduce HR management focus and ensure they reflect modern L&D practices and latest thinking. Optional content includes topics such as collective and social learning, managing L&D suppliers, digital and blended learning.  The level 5 qualification can now be tailored to meet the specific learning needs of the organisation or individuals whether L&D managers, practitioners or consultants.

These new qualifications are offered by Reed Business School working through Watson Martin Partnership (WMP)

Heather Watson, FCIPD, co-owner of WMP said "There was a much needed change required for the L&D qualifications to reflect today's L&D environment.  We were delighted to have been involved in the consultation process and, as a result, have an influence on developing these new standards."

WMP will be making optimum use of technology to deliver an efficient virtual learning experience for global candidates.  The decision by WMP to innovate the way they deliver these programmes demonstrates their willingness to adapt to the growing demand for more use of leading edge technology and social media.

WMP will develop and implement this CIPD programme for L&D professionals with a focus on all participants receiving the same learning experience, regardless of their global location.

The development of the new programme started in October 2014 and the qualification will be open to the public from January 2015.
