SALT LAKE CITY (July 23, 2015) – Pluralsight, a global leader in online learning for technology professionals, today announced that programming expert Simon Allardice is joining the company as a full-time author. Allardice joins Pluralsight from lynda.com and is one of Pluralsight’s more than 800 expert authors and content creators who are teaching thousands of online technical courses to subscribers around the world.

“Simon’s dedication to creating compelling curriculum is going to help our community of professionals master technical content quicker and easier,” said Aaron Skonnard, CEO and co-founder of Pluralsight. “We’re excited to have Simon on board, and his noted expertise in iOS and other platforms will expand the knowledge users will gain from Pluralsight. Getting a veteran instructor and engaging personality like Simon to join our team adds even more gravitas to our network of incredible authors.”

Allardice was the primary developer author at lynda.com through a period of tremendous growth. His work includes popular courses on general programming, iOS, Swift, Objective-C, SQL Server and SharePoint. Allardice will primarily focus on developing courses that teach iOS development and also topics in the computer science stack, with an emphasis on providing a formal instruction to self-taught programmers.

“I’m impressed by how Pluralsight has been able to execute and grow exponentially in such a short time, and its recent focus on deepening the learning experience—with Code School, HackHands and Smarterer—proves this is the place to be for any credible tech professional who wants to share their knowledge,” said Allardice. “Online education is the future, so the need for quality online educators is at an all-time high. I’m excited to join Pluralsight as the company leads the charge in curating content specifically suited for technology professionals.”

Allardice’s hire comes during a period of significant growth for Pluralsight, as it expands its content library into numerous areas such as Web and cloud, mobile, data, analytics, machine learning and security. Other recent and notable additions include former Que author Timothy Warner to develop CompTIA Network+ courses; former PowerShell.org CFO and Skillsoft instructor Jason Helmick, who will produce a series on information security; Greg Shields, an expert on virtualization, cloud and systems management; and Shields’ Concentrated Technology co-founder Don Jones, who has authored dozens of books on topics such as PowerShell, PHP, VBScript and SQL. These additions highlight Pluralsight’s continued, rapid growth in online education to help close the skills gap existent in many technical professions.
