Capability at Work, the new book from author and founder of People Alchemy, Paul Matthews, has been launched to help learning and development professionals improve performance in their organisations.

Many organisations struggle with poor performance. Despite investing in learning and development initiatives they seem unable to solve the performance puzzle. Understanding the real underlying causes of the lack of competence and capability that contribute to a lack of performance continues to be a challenge for organisations today.

The new book from Paul Matthews is designed to be a ‘field guide’ that shows readers how to operate as a performance consultant. It shares practical advice on how to identify the roots of poor performance and how to collaborate internally to deal with these root causes.

Matthews explains, “Wherever there is poor performance, it is because someone does not have the capability to do what needs to be done. Something is stopping them from doing the job in front of them. The changing role of L&D means that solving these performance challenges now rests with learning professionals. But as well as a challenge, it also represents a great opportunity to help deliver a real impact within their organisation!’

Charles Jennings, who wrote the foreword for the book comments, “I found the insights in this book had me nodding my head in agreement on almost every page. The practical advice is clear and implementable."

‘Capability At Work’ is now available along with Matthews’ first book, ‘Informal Learning’ as a free Kindle download until midnight on Sunday 19 September. The books are available worldwide and learning professionals globally can just search the titles on their local Amazon sites to claim their free copies.
