Blackboard today announced details of its presence at Online Educa Berlin 2014, the leading global conference on online learning and training. A plenary session keynote, a pre-conference workshop and a dedicated booth (Sponsor Hall – B55) will showcase Blackboard’s expertise and industry leadership, allowing participants to learn more about the company’s unique learner-centric approach and the recent solution developments. They will also discover how Blackboard solutions and services are helping students, teachers and institutions across the world achieve success.

With 72% of world’s leading institutions already working with Blackboard*, during 2014 Blackboard has continued to grow further, closing a series of key wins and renewals, including Koc University in Turkey, and University of Bradford and University of Sheffield in the UK, which have both migrated to Blackboard Managed Hosting. This success mirrors the impressive 100 percent growth in Brazil, where the company now supports more than 1 million students and faculty members at over 70 institutions.

Early in the year, Blackboard opened new data centres in Frankfurt am Main and Singapore to meet global customer requests for an in-region, private cloud facility. The new facilities are part of the company’s recently expanded cloud strategy that offers customers the most comprehensive set of deployment options in the market: locally on-site, through Blackboard’s Managed Hosting offering, or a SaaS/public cloud option.

Blackboard has also signed a strategic partnership with Studyportals to help universities attract, engage and support learners from the first moment they are interested in a course to the day they graduate.

“This has been a fantastic year for Blackboard in Europe and across the world. Online Educa Berlin is the right place for us to meet and network with education leaders and understand their future needs,” said Chris Merrick, vice president marketing, international at Blackboard. “At the conference we will also discuss our student- centric vision of education and the leading role Blackboard is taking to improve education outcomes for everyone. Sharing innovative best practices and discussing ideas on how to improve student engagement and its impact on their education will also be a key part of what we look to discuss with education leaders at the event.”

In addition to a rich programme of demo sessions, Blackboard will present:

  • -  “Student-led learning”, a pre-conference workshop with Dan Hewes, solutions engineer - Wednesday 3rd December, 10.00am to 1.00pm

  • -  “The selfie and the shift from students as consumers to students as creators” a plenary session keynote from Dan Peters, senior solutions engineer - Friday 5th December, 09:30am to 11.00am
