Henry Ford’s famous quote, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got” was the message from keynote speaker Michelle Parry-Slater, award-winning Learning and Development Director from Kairos Modern Learning. An ‘Elite’ on eLearning Industry’s 2018 Movers & Shakers List, she also works closely alongside The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional association for human resource management professionals. Her talk ‘What does the future of learning look like?’ explored modern approaches to learning and provided delegates with insights about how they can implement her ideas.

Michelle explained that during the session, the focus would be on, “practical ideas to bring the future a little closer to today.” They went on to “look at shifts in learning practice, consider future roles and skills for learning professionals that include socialised learning, effective evaluation, the use of data & metrics, motivation in self-directed learning, ethics and evidence-based approaches.”

Everyone attending the event participated in a workshop run by Matt Gofton, Senior Employer Engagement Manager at the CIPD. Matt works in partnership with organisations to raise the professionalism of Learning and Development through the sharing of ideas, best practice and research across the UK, as well as internationally. Matt announced an exciting new relationship between the CIPD and Nimble, whereby users of the elearning platform will get to share special discounts and opportunities.

Nimble have always placed their customers at the centre of everything they do. The Community Day is their flagship event because it celebrates the exciting work of its client base. Part of the day is given over to customers showing other delegates how they’ve used the platform to achieve exciting and innovative results. Case studies from Forest Holidays, Espirita Workforce Solutions, Chant Productions and the charity Education for Health were well-received and were the highlight of the day. The presenters shed insights into their daily challenges and tribulations, and great stories of their elearning journeys were shared with their fellow Nimble users.

“We love to share best practice with our customers,” says Sales and Marketing Director, Alex Hathway. “They like to see how others are achieving successes, and they look for ideas they can adopt or even people they can connect with going forward. It’s a fantastic networking opportunity.”

Delegates also found out what new innovations will be available in the year ahead. The company intend launching their latest version of the platform at Learning Technologies in February 2019, but the Community Day attendees got the first chance to find out what exciting developments await them next year.

The day rounded off with an awards ceremony which celebrates the work of Nimble advocates who have created something highly engaging, as well as having achieved impressive learning outcomes. These awards have become a feature that enhance the confidence of Nimble customers, who often have other responsibilities in their careers. There were six awards given on the day, with the winners as follows:
