The Tata Learning Forum is a unique event in that it will bring key clients of Tata Interactive Systems together. In this forum, these clients will share their experiences in training & development, exchange views on e-learning, and discuss opportunities e-learning is likely to offer in the future.

This event will be held at the New Yorker Hotel in New York on Monday, 20 September 2004 (with a cocktail reception on Sunday the 19th).

The event is being organized by Tata Interactive Systems, one of the world's largest developers of custom e-learning solutions. It is the first event of its kind ever to be hosted by a custom developer of on-line learning solutions, and underscores Tata Interactive Systems' leadership position in the industry.

The event comprises of a series of interactive sessions and panel discussions on a wide range of issues and opportunities in e-learning. About 20 speakers and panelists will participate, drawn mostly from Fortune 500 companies representing industry segments like banking, airlines, consumer goods, defense, publishing, education, and telecom. These speakers will discuss different dimensions of training and development, such as blended learning, simulation-based learning, story-based learning, and adaptive assessments.

The forum will offer an opportunity for senior-level executives to interact with their industry peers, gain insights into creative solutions used elsewhere, learn about innovative training practices, and learn from the experience of some of the most successful e-learning initiatives around the world-participants hail from the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Australia.

As Manoj Kutty, Senior Vice President of Tata Interactive's North American and Australian operations said, "Every time we meet a client, we talk to them about the experiences we have had with other clients and how that experience benefits a new assignment. That's when we thought, why not get our clients together so they can talk to each other directly and share their experiences? Thus was born the Tata Learning Forum."

Added Geetha Krishnan, head of Tata Interactive's Senior Specialists Group, "We figure that if we let our clients share their experiences, we could also learn a lot. We could unearth aspects that may not have come out so far in our regular interactions. It's a new way of learning for us as well."

With a speaker list from companies such as American Airlines American Honda Finance, GE, Motorola, Procter & Gamble, Qantas, University of Phoenix and UPS this is definitely an event that is likely to be heavy on insights.

The excitement is palpable. And what's more-it promises to be just the beginning. As Manoj summed it up, "We are sure the event will be a success. We have decided that this will be an annual event, and we will conduct it in different parts of the world every year." And that can only mean good news for the world of training and development.
