We must speak with one voice, Piers Lea tells industry heads at European e-learning Summit
Piers Lea, CEO of LINE Communications, raised concerns that, although the e-learning industry has held its own during the economic downturn, it is not performing as well as it should be considering the clear results it is generating for global organisations. Speaking at the European e-learning summit, organised by Learning Light, he expressed the need for e-learning companies to club together and speak with a united voice about the benefits they provide.
Discussions at the event led the publication of an e-learning manifesto intended to help delegates pursue dialogue with their national governments to establish a single, independent and impartial body representing the corporate e-learning sector.
Speaking at the event Piers Lea said, “We are businesses that are really getting some great results but these are not coming through in public perception. I think we’ve realised as a group of companies that unless we speak with one voice, somehow, then we’re not going to get the message across fast enough with enough impact.”
He gave a talk, on behalf of the European Learning Industry Group (ELIG) in which he presented the results of a number of organisations ranging from Cisco through to Care Homes which included results that demonstrated 20% sales performance increases, a huge increase in training reach and millions of pounds saved.
Piers went on to say, “It was great to see such a response but frankly, we all know that the industry is not growing at the rate that it could considering how important it is for the future prosperity of this country and of Europe. As a group we can help; we have many great stories to tell, but people are not going to listen unless we can articulate the benefit in a more compelling way.”
On behalf of ELIG, Piers is offering these success stories to anyone who needs to get the ear of their leadership. You can also see the presentation’s first outing on LINE’s brand new YouTube channel.
