LINE celebrates creative talent with internal 'LINETube' awards

Sheffield, 17th March 2011. LINE Communications, one of Europe's leading providers of learning and communications, has recently hosted its first annual internal video and photography competition (LINETube) with an awards ceremony to celebrate the creativity and talent of the employees within the company.

It's not often that one would associate Hollywood glamour with the world of learning and communications, but the metaphorical red carpet was rolled-out for the LINE team as they took their seats to await Andrew Joly, LINE's Design Director and host-for-the-evening, to announce the winners.

As expected, the nominations were as diverse and creatively varied as the LINE team themselves. One of the members of the independent judging panel summarised the LINE employees and their strange and creative set of entries as follows:

"[They] have odd conversations with their monitors, or threaten their mirror images in elevators and throw knives at their feet. They have 'love-hate' tattoos on their fingers, and they will move on and pout disdainfully if you don't 'put a ring on it'. All they want to do is look at the world through fish-eyes, cross-dress and prance about the office; skid up and down the neck of a guitar and fix the national debt."

Speaking after the ceremony Andrew Joly said, "It's fantastic that something that started out as a bit of fun was picked up by so many people across the company as a chance to try out new creative ideas - and share some of their own passions at the same time. It really developed its own energy."

You can view some of the successful entries on LINE's YouTube channel and a more in depth report can be found on the LINE blog.
