Brandon Hall Gold Award for LINE iPad Learning programme
LINE Communications one of Europe’s leading providers of learning and communications, has won a Gold award for best use of Mobile Learning at the 2011 Brandon Hall awards.
The Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Awards are presented by Brandon Hall Group, a leading research organisation in training and development. The Excellence in Learning Awards program recognises innovation and best practice in the technology enabled learning marketplace. The awards programme is a major, international showcase, regularly attracting hundreds of entries from over 40 countries across the various categories of award.
LINE developed the Fire Control Orders (FCO) programme in collaboration with the Royal School of Artillery. The programme uses the iPad as the delivery vehicle for a highly motivational and cost effective learning programme which supports the effectiveness of the Royal Artillery in active combat. The ability of the iPad to enable learners to network with others using the same devices was a key reason for choosing the iPad to deliver the learning and this feature is built into elements of the learning design of the programme.
The FCO programme also won an award for Best use of Mobile Learning at the recent e-learning Awards in the London.
Keith Downes, Director and Defence Lead says: “This is a proud moment for the LINE Defence team. It's recognition at the highest level for the innovative stance taken by the Royal School of Artillery (RSA) in looking for ways to optimise Fire Control Orders training, their adoption of the iPad as a delivery device and is a fine example of weaving technology into the fabric of Defence training while motivating Generation 'Y' students in a cost effective and engaging way. The project was conceived, developed and delivered collaboratively with the RSA - and the relationship continues with the Voice Procedures project which started in November. LINE continues to develop innovative mobile learning solutions introducing a new iPad, Step-In, Step-Out (SISO), Augmented Reality Concept Demonstrator at the Mobile Learning Symposium, HMS Collingwood on the 17th November."
