LINE Communications, the UK’s market leading provider of learning and communications solutions, has concluded an agreement to assist with the development and implementation of Jaguar Land Rover's global dealer learning strategy.

LINE has been contracted to work on the strategy for staff employed in the company's network of Jaguar and Land Rover dealerships. The challenge is to put in place authoring, content and learning management processes and tools that enable the learning & development team to deliver a highly tailored service to 75,000 showroom and workshop staff operating in 130 countries.

The objective for 2009 was to assist with the installation of a reliable learning management system. This enables dealership managers and staff to analyse their strengths and weaknesses and then access training solutions that are dovetailed to their development needs.

The solution has to accommodate users that speak more than 20 different main languages and, particularly in the case of Land Rover, operate in highly contrasting technical and cultural environments. Following an autumn launch, the system is receiving more than 1 million page hits a month.

A key milestone towards the second objective was achieved with the launch of a global publishing system. This provides a single platform through which Jaguar Land Rover's network of learning content authoring companies can develop and distribute training.

This development paves the way for market based retail training managers around the world to localise global content which is commissioned by the UK Learning & Development team based at the head office in Warwick. It also provides the opportunity for subject matter experts to develop and publish their own material underpinned by a single quality assurance process.

The next challenge for 2010 is to move to a content production and delivery approach that will enable learning and development managers in the UK and in the markets to address training needs immediately they occur whilst maximising cost savings.

The transformation of the learning systems has been achieved by close collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover's implementation suppliers; learning systems provider, Redware Ltd and Mohive Ltd, specialists in learning publishing systems.

LINE’s consulting practitioners, working alongside the senior team and agency partners, draw on a broad range of diagnostic tools and delivery methodologies to help shape and deliver Jaguar Land Rover's strategy, which contains more than a dozen key work streams.

Steve Ash, LINE's Sales and Marketing Director said, "Our relationship with Jaguar Land Rover now goes back several years. We are able to develop a clear understanding of Jaguar Land Rover's vision for developing a dealership and provide very practical advice and support on the best way of achieving it. We’re delighted to be able to support Jaguar Land Rover implement its strategy in such a hands on way."
