Rustici Software Announces Milestone Content Controller 5.0 Release
Content Controller 5.0 greatly expands content types and emphasizes easier access, with major additions of virtual instructor-led training (VILT) through Zoom, YouTube and Vimeo imports, and simplified single sign-on (SSO) tracking.
Rustici Software, a global eLearning standards and learning technology organization, has announced the launch of Content Controller 5.0. This major release intends to bridge the gap between virtual instructor-led training, in-the-flow-of-work learning, and centralized tracking. It features:
- Expanded video support, allowing for live virtual training to be managed alongside standard eLearning courses in one central hub.
- Brand-new Zoom integration.
- Simplified single sign-on (SSO) for Content Controller’s Launcher extension.
Rustici is highlighting its Zoom integration for virtual instructor-led training (VILT) as the headline feature, with the new update making virtual training through Zoom behave the same as standard eLearning courses. This means users can:
- Turn virtual scheduled calls into packaged eLearning courses.
- Share those virtual classroom courses directly to a client’s LMS.
- Centrally manage live event catalogs alongside standard SCORM, cmi5, and LTI packages.
- Verify learners' attendance and attendance durations.

The new update additionally adds support for importing YouTube and Vimeo links directly into Content Controller, allowing these sources to be wrapped as shareable standards-based packages that track viewer progress just like all other courses in its library.
Finally, Content Controller’s popular Launcher link packages—allowing for quick content sharing even when a learner doesn’t have access to an LMS—are receiving new built-in Single Sign-On (SSO) capabilities. This feature ensures that organizations can easily capture key reporting metrics without forcing users into a secondary login flow.
Rutherford explains: “Launcher has become a more intriguing offering to our customers as the demand to provide training in the flow of work increases. Now with the latest release of Content Controller Launcher, we've added built in support for SSO making it incredibly simple to securely capture learner data with in-application authentication.”
