Muir Gray and Charles Alessi launch AI dementia campaign
Professor Sir Muir Gray and Dr Charles Alessi are joining Learning with Experts to launch a global dementia education campaign for Dementia Week this week using expert teaching, AI-supported guidance and sentiment analysis.
Professor Sir Muir Gray and Dr Charles Alessi, two of the world’s most respected voices in dementia prevention, healthy ageing and public health education, are joining forces with Learning with Experts to launch a free global dementia education campaign.
The not-for-profit initiative will combine their clinical and public health expertise with Learning with Experts’ award-winning digital learning platform, using AI-supported guidance and sentiment analysis to help people understand how to reduce dementia risk, respond after diagnosis and support loved ones with confidence.
Professor Sir Muir Gray, former NHS Chief Knowledge Officer, and Dr Charles Alessi, former national lead on dementia prevention at Public Health England, are co-authors of the newly launched book Increase Your Brainability: Reduce the Risk and Impact of Dementia. Their work challenges the fatalistic idea that nothing can be done after a dementia diagnosis and focuses instead on prevention, earlier action, lifestyle, connection and agency.
The campaign will create two free online courses: one for people at the point of diagnosis and one for those wishing to reduce their risk of developing dementia. The courses will combine expert-led video, broadcast-quality storytelling, interactive online classrooms, AI-supported learning tools and sentiment analysis to identify where learners may need additional support or signposting.
The announcement follows major recognition for Learning with Experts at the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026. CEO Elspeth Briscoe was named EdTech Thought Leader of the Year, while Learning with Experts won Best Lifelong or Flexible Learning Solution.
The campaign is being developed benevolently and is not designed to generate personal profit for Professor Sir Muir Gray or Dr Charles Alessi. Both are contributing because of their long-standing commitment to public health, dementia prevention and patient education. For Learning with Experts CEO Elspeth Briscoe, who helps care for her father with Alzheimer’s, the mission is also personal: she has seen how powerful Muir and Charles’s education can be, and wants to help make it available globally.
