LearnWorlds unveils its Living Learning System for instructional designers
The AI-enabled LMS keeps instructional designers in charge of the decisions that shape learning, with a live preview on 13 October.
LearnWorlds has announced the Living Learning System, the next chapter of its LMS, built around a new role for the instructional designer.
"The Living Learning System is an LMS that can create learning experiences and respond to learners under the direction of an instructional designer," said Dr Panos Siozos, CEO and Co-founder of LearnWorlds. "Most AI in learning has been aimed at producing content faster, which cuts instructional designers out of the decisions that matter. Designers choose how much or how little of the work AI handles.
The Living Learning System brings together capabilities across course creation, delivery, operations and ongoing training:
- Directed AI: used to build courses, sites, audio and video based on the designer’s expertise and context
- Interactive and custom learning experiences: interactions that help learners practise, revise and engage in ways a static course cannot
- Business automation: AI agents take on back-office tasks and help operate the learning environment
- Certification and retraining: workflows that bring learners back when skills need renewing

Learner memory and learner-facing agents will let the system build an increasingly detailed picture of each learner's knowledge, gaps, goals and struggles. It will then provide personalised guidance to thousands of learners.
