Afiniti challenges learning leaders to rethink their role in change readiness

Afiniti, Learning LiveLearning News

With change, transformation and future readiness named as a top challenge by LEARNING LIVE delegates, business change consultancy Afiniti will explore how learning leaders can strengthen adoption and increase the value realised from business change.

Learning leaders are increasingly being drawn into the success or failure of business change as organisations introduce AI, reshape roles and ask people to adopt new ways of working.

That pressure is reflected in research from the Learning and Performance Institute (LPI), which ranked change, transformation and future readiness as a top challenge raised by leaders registering for LEARNING LIVE 2026.

Business change consultancy Afiniti will use LEARNING LIVE to explore the role of learning leaders in strengthening change readiness, and why building capability is only one of the conditions required for change to stick.

“The LPI research reflects a wider shift in the role of learning leaders: they now have a much bigger role in change than simply delivering training,” said Gill Hughes, Partner at Afiniti. “They are often close to the people, behaviours and capability shifts on which adoption depends. But learning alone cannot compensate for unclear leadership, weak engagement or a culture that works against the change. Those conditions have to work together.”

Afiniti’s 6Lever™ approach to change readiness examines six interdependent conditions that influence whether change can be adopted and sustained: Leadership, Drivers, Culture, Engagement, Method and Capability.

At LEARNING LIVE, Afiniti will invite delegates to apply that thinking to a significant change taking place in their own organisation through its five-minute 6Lever™ Change Readiness Snapshot.

The assessment highlights how readiness is perceived across the six conditions, helping to identify areas that appear stronger and those that may warrant further attention. Afiniti’s change consultants will be available at the event to help delegates interpret their results, explore what may sit behind the pattern and identify practical next steps.

The approach also reflects an opportunity for learning functions to work more closely with transformation leaders, sponsors and other stakeholders. Rather than treating learning as an activity that follows a change decision, learning leaders can help shape the conditions in which people understand the change, build the capability required and embed new behaviours in day-to-day work.

Afiniti is a specialist business change consultancy focused on igniting passion and capability in people to double the value of business change and materially decrease costs.

LEARNING LIVE takes place in London on 16–17 September 2026. Delegates can take the 6Lever™ Change Readiness Snapshot on Stand 6 and discuss their results with Afiniti’s change consultants.
