Learning Pool has acquired OnScreen, a Digital Adoption Platform. It provides tutorials, contextual help, and automated workflows to help employees adopt new digital applications and processes.
Most employees say they rarely fully adopt new software introduced by their employers. The aim of a digital adoption platform is to change this.
Many refer to digital adoption platforms as performance support systems and this term is more familiar to L&D. Market analyst, Gartner, rebranded this category as Digital Adoption in 2019, defining a market of apps and tools and solutions to help employees adopt new systems.
If there is still a difference between the two, then DAPs are typically more comprehensive: in addition to their learning functionalities they often also track user progress and give feedback. Performance support tools are typically more about giving just-in-time support with tutorials, chatbots and FAQs.
Who's in the market? First, there are the enterprise systems vendors themselves, Oracle, SAP and so on. They have their own digital adoption solutions. Second, specialist DAP vendors, some of the biggest are Whatfix, WalkMe, Userlane and tts.
Workplace learning vendors are getting into this category driven by the sea change to direct learning more closely at performance. Omniplex Learning made a similar acquisition and now has its Guide digital adoption product. GP Strategies is another L&D brand with specialist adoption solutions. And Learning Pool is now the latest of the workplace learning vendors to enter this market.
