Few learning practitioners start out in their career with a Learning and Development qualification to enter the workforce, most move into L&D from other functions and only then seek out qualifications while they're doing the job.

A recent survey in the UK found that around half of learning practitioners have a related professional certification, potentially quite a lot considering a large proportion of these are completed in role.

To keep ahead of the rapidly evolving discipline of instructional design, a new course and qualification is out, Diploma in Instructional Design. It aims to give designers the latest skills in frameworks, tools, needs analysis, learning psychology, learning personas, and stakeholder management. It's certified by the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning and brought to market by Omniplex Learning. Programme author Leena Randhawa explains all about it on Learning News.
