Learning Technologies is Europe's leading workplace learning exhibition and conference that takes place this year on 12th and 13th of February at the ExCeL in London. More than 200 exhibitors are waiting to present the latest e-learning trends there. An important one will be competency-based learning. The goal of competency-based learning is to structure the learning process around the individual competences and skills each learner needs to master.

We are already familiar with the idea that an algorithm can suggest us which book we might like, which car we need, and who we might fall in love with. Artificial intelligence, however, is also revolutionizing the way we learn.

On 12th February, during the conference session held from 2:45 to 3:15 pm in theatre 9, imc board member Sven R. Becker will explain how the changing expectations of learners and companies can be met with competency-based learning.

Indeed, the interest in competencies, skill standards, and in measuring learning outcomes is increasing all over the world. This means that we need to move our focus from a course-specific to a competence-driven approach to learning; and create more individual and modular learning paths.

Becker’s company imc, a German leading full-service provider for digital training, has been working with global brands such as Volkswagen and Lufthansa for over 20 years in this sector. Its 360° Learning Management System (LMS) imc Learning Suite has already won many awards, for example the famous Brandon Hall award.

Learning Technologies visitors will also have the chance to get a deep dive into competency-based learning at imc´s booth number N45. In individual meetings with the imc team, they will be able to experience how competency-based learning can be put into practice with the right LMS and how business challenges can be easily mastered. A free whitepaper on this topic will be available to the public after the event.
