Happy Computers this week won Gold in both the IT Training Company of the Year and the IT Trainer of the Year categories at the annual Institute of IT Training awards.

Happy Computers won Gold this week in both IT Training Company of the Year and IT Trainer of the Year at the annual Institute of IT Training awards. The awards, rating Happy as the best IT training provider in 2009, were presented by Sky newsreader Lucy Alexander.

The judges commented that “Happy Computers demonstrates that an inclusive approach, sound governance and learner focused delivery really can pay dividends.” They described the company’s social responsibility programme as “outstanding” and praised Happy’s innovation and client endorsement.

Happy Computers has consistently been rated one of the very best training providers in the awards for the last decade. The company has been short-listed for IT Training Company of the Year in every one of the last ten years, has been in the top three in eight of those years, and has been rated one of the two best training companies in the UK for every one of the last four years.

“It is a real honour”, commented founder and Chief Executive Henry Stewart. “And it is a real tribute to the fantastic team that we have here at Happy. The dedication that I see among our people, to making training enjoyable and to ensuring real impact when people return to the workplace, is just great.”

Ed Lepre was named as IT Trainer of the Year. Ed is profoundly deaf and started at Happy four years ago on a work experience scheme. The judges praised his “highly interactive and extremely engaging” style and found him “compelling, entertaining and thought-provoking”. Overall his presentation was described as “outstanding”.
“Ed’s achievement is fantastic”, commented Henry. “His development has been amazing and he is just so eager to take on new challenges.” Ed is now Trainer Development Manager at Happy Computers.

The award comes as Happy Computers launches a programme of trainer assessment and training, to enable other trainers, and other training providers, to use the company’s Learner Focused Training approach. These courses and assessments will be aligned with the Institute of IT Training’s new training standards.
