Epic and Towards Maturity announce that top compliance experts Charles Jennings and Simon Brown will join the brand-new event ‘LearningNow: why won’t they comply?’ as guest speakers. Facilitated by Towards Maturity’s Managing Director Laura Overton, attendees will participate in interactive discussions that examine the real issues faced when developing compliance content, before gaining a practical insight on how to employ learning technologies to reinvigorate compliance training. ‘Why won’t they comply?’ will take place on the 1st May in London.

In 2012, 87 per cent of the organisations investing in learning technologies were looking to improve compliance, but only 53 per cent felt they were successful (according to the 2012 Towards Maturity Benchmark Study). Charles Jennings, Founder of the 70:20:10 Forum, will examine how and why so much compliance training is unsuccessful and unpopular.

Simon Brown, Head of Learning Transformation at Lloyds Banking Group, will share his experience and practical advice on how to engage stakeholders and build a strong business case for adopting a new approach to compliance training. By the end of the session, attendees will learn how to transform compliance training from a 'tick-the-box' exercise to content that will inspire behaviour change.

"It's no secret that compliance training has a poor reputation and is often viewed with extreme cynicism and apathy. We believe that it's clearly time for a rethink. Our event is a great opportunity for attendees and experts to come together to debate the best way forward for compliance training and I'm thrilled that we'll be joined by two of our industry's truly innovative leaders, Charles Jennings and Simon Brown," said Imogen Casebourne, Epic's Director of Learning.

This is just the first in a series of three 'LearningNow' events hosted by Epic and Towards Maturity. Each free event will invite attendees to explore and tackle key L&D issues of the day during an interactive and practical workshop. The events offer attendees the opportunity to connect, contribute and learn by aligning benchmark findings, workplace process and best practice.

'Why won't they comply?' is on the 1st May from 9:00 to 14:00 at etc. Venues, One Drummond Gate, Victoria, London. It's free to attend but places are limited. Registration is available on the website, or via email to [email protected].
