Brightwave integrates Tin Can Experience API in new learning service tessello

Learning NewsBrightwave Group

Next generation learning expert Brightwave unveils a web-based service that enables learners to collaborate and take control of their own learning in the workplace.

First presented in London at Learning Technologies 2013, tessello is Brightwave's response to the challenge of how we make learning relevant, dynamic and aligned to changing business goals, while harnessing the way people learn and work today.

The new service uses an LMS-driven web-based platform that captures and shares formal and informal learning experiences through integration with the Tin Can Experience API. It operates seamlessly across mobile devices, tablets and PCs ensuring full integration with the working day.

tessello enables social curation and collaboration through sharing and rating of learning experiences. The service has been designed to meet the shared needs of large teams or organisational groups. It provides a platform where learners interact with curated content including videos, infographics and PDFs, e-learning courses and live online training plus content shared and recommended by peers.

A next generation LMS, tessello creates a 'community of learning' around a particular subject area or role, for example sales capability and product knowledge through to induction and customer service.

Learning analytics and curation - an ecosystem of learning

As part of the standard subscription, Brightwave brings its expertise in learning design and evaluation with supporting curation and learning analytics services. Brightwave's experts will work alongside learning teams and subject matter experts within organisations to analyse data, learner feedback and experiences suggesting changes and refinement to content and existing learning paths.

Tin Can Experience in action

An early adopter of the Tin Can API, Brightwave is one of the first suppliers in the market to successfully embed the API, allowing learners to capture, manage and share experiences. This includes the 'invisible 70%' of learning that takes place away from the LMS in an informal learning environment.

Charles Gould, Managing Director at Brightwave said:

"Innovation is vital to ensuring that we provide our clients with the best possible learning solutions. I am delighted that we are breaking new ground with the launch of tessello. While the learning industry continues to explore the potential of the Tin Can/Experience API, our talented team has been quick to identify the opportunity. We have developed a learning service that genuinely supports people's job roles on a daily basis while presenting organisations with powerful data to support business metrics."

Clients and visitors to Learning Technologies were invited to see tessello in action with a demo experience delivered on a range of tablet devices. Early feedback indicates that users rate the sleek simple interface and learning teams are impressed by the ability to report on tangible data, allowing them to determine trends and adapt learning programmes around high performing content and learner feedback.
