Virtual College announces winner at patient safety training awards
Winners of the Patient Safety Awards were announced at a prestigious evening dinner which took place in Manchester on 4th July.
The Awards, now in their 9th year, recognise outstanding practice within the NHS and independent healthcare organisations and this year consisted of 21 categories.
Virtual College sponsored and was on the judging panel for the Education and Training in Patient Safety Award.
At the inspirational evening awards ceremony, Judith Clarkson, director of Virtual College, presented the Education and Training in Patient Safety Award to the winner, West Midlands Academic Health Science Network, for their entry submission ‘Learning from Excellence.’
Working as a three way partnership, West Midlands Academic Health Science Network delivered a “two stage” education and training process to promote Learning from Excellence. LFE is a method of learning from what goes right in healthcare using positive incident reporting supported by a structured learning process based around appreciative inquiry.
On presenting the award, Judith, commented: “There were some impressive entries demonstrating a huge commitment to education and training throughout the UK.
“The judges felt that this was a truly innovative approach that has the ability to transform the way we improve patient safety. This should be considered for national rollout both for patient safety and staff morale.”
