Facing the challenge of staff engagement

London, UKLearning NewsThe Learning Architect

Staff engagement levels have crashed to record lows. How can organisations encourage greater engagement and resilience to change, to support their staff through challenging times? Modern Life Skills specialist Liggy Webb has some answers.

Engagement levels amongst staff have crashed to a record low: The CIPD has found that only 37% of staff are actively engaged at work – which drops to 33% in the public sector. “These are shocking statistics,” says modern life skills specialist Liggy Webb “What is your organisation doing about it?”

Liggy and the Learning Architect – a consortium of behavioural skills specialists – help organisations support, engage and motivate their people. They’ve researched and designed a comprehensive portfolio of key life skills designed to help organisations to:

  • Improve resilience and stamina
  • Reduce stress and absenteeism
  • Support a work-home balance
  • Help staff cope better with change
  • Get their people thinking more positively
  • Save money on essential learning
  • Keep things simple and effective

These skills are essential says Liggy, as they affect not only staff happiness, but the business bottom line. “Employers have not just a legal obligation, but a moral duty to support their staff,” she says, “And companies that do so will reap the rewards.”

Together Liggy and The Learning Architect host complimentary monthly taster events at the Farncombe Conference Centre, so HR and L&D professionals can learn how to tackle these challenges head on.

Brian Cowen, Manager, nPower, found the day really useful, providing skills to take back to the workplace: “I would recommend anyone to attend one of these for themselves or for any company going through change, as many of the concepts within the sessions would make the process easier and help those dealing with change maintain a positive and healthy outlook.”

The next Modern Life Skills taster session is taking place on 6 December and includes access to an online library of life skills resources.
