Jobs boost at Sponge UK

Plymouth, UKLearning NewsSponge

Award-winning elearning company, Sponge UK created more than 20 new jobs in 2014 and plans to increase its workforce by a further 30 in 2015.

It follows an outstanding year for the custom-made elearning provider which saw a 50% increase in new clients and overall growth of 40%.

Sponge UK will be looking to recruit across the board including instructional designers, developers, visual designers, learning solutions architects, project managers and marketing professionals.

The extra staff will support the company’s growth strategy which includes plans to expand geographically, go deeper into existing markets, expand the firm’s cloud-based LMS system, Launch & Learn and further develop expertise in responsive elearning and affordable games.

Managing Director, Louise Pasterfield, said: “We are expanding and developing our team so we can innovate, use new technologies and continue to deliver excellent customer service to our clients worldwide.

“It all helps to further enhance our ability to make a big difference to our customers in the areas that matter to them most.”

Family-owned Sponge UK, based in Plymouth and London, was founded in 2004 and has grown from an initial staff of just two to a workforce of more than 50.

The company is working with Vancouver-based business growth specialist, Michael Walsh from Kaizen Consulting: “It is refreshing to see a company expand so quickly but remain vigilant that every single player is the right fit, meets the company’s values and has the opportunity to excel.

“I believe this is what makes Sponge UK a really special organisation.”

Sponge UK was named Elearning Development Company of the Year at the 2014 Elearning Awards in November.

The business makes bespoke elearning for major companies and organisations such as Tesco, Toyota and United Nations.
