Redware invites customers to try a dollop of their mobile offering – Redsource

Leamington Spa, UKLearning NewsRedware

Redware, a market leader in learning and mobile solutions announce their Revolutionary Mobile Application Management (MAM) platform, Redsource which is being officially unveiled at the World of Learning and Apps World exhibitions on October 2nd and 3rd 2012.

The product is set to change the way companies do business, enabling them to implement Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) with ease across networks of any size or nature and create powerful enterprise applications and deploy them with ease.

Streets ahead with its capabilities, Redsource has a “real focus on security” says Davoc Bradley, Head of Mobile at Redware. He added;

“We have created a truly unique offering within Redsource, enabling lock down of only enterprise applications if the security on the device is breached and intuitive leaver management features, alongside many powerful features including a full QA and sign off process for apps and content, plus a Software Development Kit (SDK) so companies can use all the security features of Redsource when creating their own applications. Combined, this means that security is integrated into every aspect of our offering, giving a peace of mind when considering MAM”.

With Single Sign On (SSO) functionality, end to end encryption using the SDK, powerful reporting and in app analytics, Redsource is passing the power of Bring Your Own Device and mobile application management back to companies, with an intuitive way of managing even the most complex of networks. Andre Wigley, CEO at Redware comments;

“We envisage this flexible platform being used by progressive organisations and those interested in workforce mobilisation across all sectors. Within learning & development, there is a huge opportunity to put our expertise to work to continue to evolve mobile learning using Redsource. The very nature of Redsource means it can adapt to suit any organisation looking to revolutionise the way they do things.”

The Mobile Application Management (MAM) marketplace will be changed forever with the introduction of Redsource, providing the solution to many commonly anticipated problems. Users are freed up to maintain full control of their own devices, while a company has the powerful security they expect to see in place to protect their business data, it makes Mobile Device Management (MDM) a thing of the past. Andre Wigley adds;

“We have faced plenty of challenges in developing a platform which answers all of the users needs if they are to unlock the massive potential of Mobile Application Management, paying particular attention to the challenge of maintaining user’s ownership and individuality on their devices, with the integrity a business would expect of its enterprise applications. With the marketplace itself in its infancy, there was a huge gap in the market for something different, that gap has been filled with Redsource, which will continue to innovate and excel in this rapidly evolving market”.

Redsource is already being implemented in Jaguar Land Rover’s impressive dealer network, which will be using the platform to distribute content globally across many job roles to some 6000 devices initially and shortly after to deliver mobile applications to a far larger network. This solution will mean that sales people will always have the latest information to hand, on portable devices, meaning customers always get the most up to date information available to them. Dr Adrian Birch, Training Technologies, JLR added;

“The Redware offering is second to none and we feel it offers everything that we need to deliver content securely to our dealerships. We put a number of firms through their paces and Redware are the ones who are able to deliver to our high expectations”.

The launch is “an advance in the Redware revolution”, comments Andre Wigley. With Redsource set to be unveiled at two key industry events this year, World of Learning and Apps World, companies will be able to receive demonstrations of the platform and its superior capabilities, alongside being able to organise demonstrations directly with Redware. Andre Wigley concludes;

“It is incredibly exciting, we are committed to providing an amazing service to our customers and we are convinced this will change the way people see mobile in the workplace, it is going to be very rewarding to see the fruits of our labour in action and for our customers it gives them the next step in continuing their own revolution, making them the innovator”.

Ready for the tech?

Content – Redsource is a versatile platform capable of handling many forms of content;
• Video – The platform can handle any number or length of video files. The files appear in the store as an asset and the user is able to interact with and view the video. The file is then cached so a user only downloads it once, but is available for later use.
• Documents – The platform can handle any number or size of PDF file. The files appear in the store as an asset and the user can interact with and view the document from there. This is then cached so it is only downloaded once.
• Weblinks and Webapps – With webapps an icon is placed on the users device, so to access it, it becomes as simple as using a normal app. With weblinks, they are only available from within the store and will open the page in browser.
• Native app without embedded agent – Apps which haven’t been development with the embedded agent is useful for legacy applications and bought in applications. Certain features of the platform cannot be used with apps that don’t use the embedded agency, though updates can still be fully controlled.
• Native app with embedded agent – Apps which are built using the embedded agent have the full suite of tools and capabilities. With a full SDK available these apps can be developed with ease.

Redsource is also capable of full app content delivery and updating, either through a clear call to action to the user or seamlessly in the background. Redsource can also expire content remotely and in the background, to deal with the issue of time sensitive data.

Security and user management – Redsource has a powerful suite of tools to manage the full user and leaver cycle
• Remote lock and wipe of applications and data, without affecting the users device, this can be used in the event of a leaver or breach of security on a device. This can be in the form of an App specific block, full block of all content and apps, basic wipe of all data since installation and a full wipe which renders all apps (only those installed through Redsource) useless on a user’s device.
• Device anti-tamper measures
• Ability to group and categorise users and control content and data per user group
• End to end encryption and on device encryption back for apps with embedded agent

Analytics – Redsource provides full logging and reporting for all app store interactions, all security interactions and in the case of Apps with the embedded agent, full content interactions. This allows companies to carry out powerful reporting on user profiles, app specific reporting, security auditing, app popularity and usage and many more. The Redsource API includes a wrapper for Google Analytics that allows a company to add central logging and reporting into an app.

Apple license restriction – If a company wants to sign an app with a corporate license instead of a developer’s licence the responsibility of distributing that content becomes theirs and they are responsible for ensuring that the app is not installed or used by people that are not employees of the signer or close 3rd parties. Redsource provides an intuitive solution to not only fulfil the distribution aspect but also the security aspect with its sophisticated platform.
