Leading IT training company Xpertise has announced that it is further extending its presence in the soft skills training arena, with the strategic acquisition of niche training company Waterman's.

Waterman’s has an outstanding reputation for the delivery of both soft skills training and PC applications training. Although a niche player, for over twenty years Waterman’s has steadily grown its enviable reputation for quality, by providing training services to blue-chip organisations such as the AA, Allianz Cornhill, Atos Origin, bmi, HBOS, Honda R&D, Nationwide Building Society, NHS, Zurich Financial Services - plus local government, MOD and police forces. Waterman’s has specific expertise in large-scale training projects – and also provides both public and closed courses.

The acquisition of Waterman’s sees Xpertise further strengthen its portfolio and market position in soft skills training. Already leading the market in project management and service management training, Xpertise will now be able to offer a significantly extended range of professional development courses, from Waterman’s industry-leading ‘personal, team and customer excellence’ training portfolio.

Ian Johnson, managing director at Xpertise, is delighted with the acquisition. “Waterman’s and Xpertise are a perfect fit,” said Johnson. “We’ll be able to offer Waterman’s outstanding soft skills courses to a much larger customer base; one where we’ve already developed strong relationships by proving our abilities. It also demonstrates how seriously Xpertise takes soft skills training – it’s a core part of our business, not just a casual add-on. By bringing Waterman’s and Xpertise together, we expect to make even stronger in-roads into what is already a very successful market for us.”

Shan Williams, managing director at Waterman’s, is equally pleased. “This acquisition opens up real opportunities for all involved. It’s going to be exciting to be part of a larger team. It’s also going to enable us to reach a far larger customer base. Waterman’s is recognised as one of the best soft skills training companies, so it’s terrific to be joining forces with another real market leader.”
