Prism PMA to demonstrate two new assessment tools for project managers

Prism Project Management Associates is to demonstrate two new industry-specific assessment tools – for project managers and P3M professionals – at Learning and Skills 2015 exhibition.

Its Spectrum 360 assessment tool helps career advancement by gathering observations of a project manager and comparing them with his/her perception. Its second new assessment tool is a competency tool for P3M managers called Spectrum P3M. It enhances hands-on skills and professional development.

The new assessment tools are launched as part of Prism PMA’s training/coaching service for project managers to develop P3M (project, portfolio and programme) competence and increased professionalism.

The company’s focus is particularly on competence-based development that bridges the ‘knowing–doing’ divide. The recently-launched Spectrum 360 assessment tool helps career advancement by gathering observations of a project manager and comparing them with his/her perception.

Director Jan Underdown said: “Unlike other systems, which are based on your perception of yourself and on how you think you behave in a given situation, Spectrum360 gathers other peoples' observations of you and compares them with your perception of yourself. This makes for very powerful results which are difficult to ignore.”

“The questionnaires have been designed by an industrial psychologist and are based around competency frameworks. Competencies are attributes which have been shown to be particularly important to success in a particular job or situation. When you choose a Spectrum360 product, your questionnaire is based on a competency framework which closely matches the sort of job you do.”

Prism PMA’s second new assessment tool is a competency tool for P3M managers called Spectrum P3M. It enhances hands-on skills and professional development.

Jan Underdown said: “Project Managers often need to integrate rapidly into teams of people they have never met before, rapidly gain influence and respect and be able to manage the conflicting demands of several projects at the same time. The competencies in Spectrum P3M reflect the demands on these people – while the flexibility of being able to choose up to three optional competencies makes it suitable for a wide range of professional circumstances.”

Prism PMA offers a matching support and mentoring service to support the assessment tool findings – or the user can work alongside his/her existing manager, mentor or HR professional.
