The African Society for Quality in Healthcare (ASQH), based in Cairo, Egypt, has signed an exclusive five-year partnership with Pearson VUE to deliver its International Board for Quality in Healthcare (IBQH) programme.

The programme is designed to help professionals improve quality in the healthcare industry by testing basic quality knowledge. Candidates who pass the examination will be issued with an IBQH Certificate and ASQH identification. The IBQH is the first certification of its kind in the Arab world and has been recognised by a number of medical colleges, as well as the Ministries of Health in Africa.

Pearson VUE has more than 320 international clients across the US, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australia and Africa. Pearson VUE is delighted to utilise its wealth of expertise in the health and medical industries to help ASQH deliver secure and effective computer-based testing. This partnership will ensure that the content, delivery and test psychometrics are of the highest standard. The ultimate aim is to deliver the test globally.

Dr. Mahmoud F. Nassar, Founder and CEO of ASQH commented: “Pearson VUE have a wealth of experience and understanding in e- assessment. This will be a very effective way to ensure consistency in quality and delivery of this certification across the world. We selected Pearson VUE to provide this important certification as we are confident in their ability to meet our current and future needs and expectations.

The testing volume is expected to grow to 5,000 tests annually through the life of the contract. As the first step in globalising this program, ASQH is working on creating new international entities to help promote this program to the rest of the world.’

Suzana Lopes, Pearson VUE, VP Sales and Marketing EMEA, adds: “We are very excited to partner with ASQH and deliver this Africa-based test. We hope that this contract will continue to grow our relationship with the African and Arabic world. E-assessment is the way forward for qualifications and testing as it enables candidates to sit their assessments at a time convenient to them, reduces the time it takes to mark tests and the issue of certificates. The level of security we offer is second to none and this will be invaluable as ASQH roll out their new computer-based test.”
